MENHIR Project intends to carry out the complete development of the concept (including detail design) of an offshore floating wind turbine made entirely of concrete and built by floating dock. Main goal of the project is to potentiate the development of the offshore wind power industry using Spanish technology and with competitive prices in comparison with the traditional bottom-founded wind turbines.
The project is led by the company Dragados, which has created a company consortium together with Fhecor, IHCantabria and Giteco.
The project, whose file number is RTC-2015-3505-3, has been co-financed by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness within the program Retos-Colaboración annuity 2015 of the State Program of Research, Development and Innovation towards Challenges of Society under the State Plan of Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2013-2016 and by the European Union with FEDER funds. Main goal was to promote the technological development, the innovation and high-quality of research.
