REOPENING OF L’ALCÚDIA DE CRESPINS-MOIXENT RAILWAY

03/2019

The Spanish Ministry Of Public Works has recently announced the reopening of L’Alcúdia de Crespins-Moixent commuting railway line. Following nine years of improvement works in the line, railway traffic will be re-established by the end of April. Among other personalities, the Minister of Public Works, Mr. José Luis Ábalos, participated in the trial drive that took place last week following this announcement.

These works are part of the Phase 1 of ‘Nudo de la Encina’ modernization project, which comprises improvements in the line between the coastal towns of L’Alcúdia de Crespins and Moixent, in Valencia. The total affected stretch is approximately 20 km long.

The railway reopening will have an important beneficial impact on commuters, who needed to use alternative means of transport, by decreasing their daily travel time to around 15 minutes. Moreover, it will provide a more sustainable option for these everyday displacements.

FHECOR Ingenieros Consultores developed the detailed design of ten new structures along the railway and also provided technical assessment during their construction.
